The Lord Orchestrates All Things!

This week was set to be an active week serving in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, alongside a wonderful team of 14. Yet, as plans often remind us, the Lord’s ways are higher than ours. Our flights went through Dubai, and the realities of war changed everything. Though alternate flights weren’t available, God’s grace was evident in every step.

The team did not let this obstacle stop the ministry. Each morning, a group of university students began their day by “interviewing” the Adera bead moms—women whose lives have been transformed through Adera’s ministry. The beads themselves are not the goal; the true heart of the work is the women behind the beads.

On Monday morning, Emma and Sara “met” with five bead moms via zoom, learning their stories: foraging in the landfill for daily sustenance with a baby on their back or a toddler at their side, navigating local government support, and finally finding security and community through Adera. These women now have meaningful work, a family of 20 fellow artisans, weekly Bible study, and a support system where they celebrate and mourn together. Many shared that before Adera, they had no hope—but now, through Adera Designs, they have both help and true hope.

While the team is sad not to be running alongside the children in classrooms this week, we are reminded that the work does not depend on our presence. The Lord continues to guide the Adera staff, connecting them with students, parents, and families, bringing real help and lasting hope.

A favorite poem of mine, Prophets of a Future Not Our Own, (Link for the entire text) reminds us:

“…We are workers, not master builders; ministers, not messiahs.
We are prophets of a future not our own…”

Indeed, we rejoice in seeing the seeds planted through Adera continue to grow, and we are grateful for your partnership in this life-changing work.

The Last 12

This year, 68 precious children are in Adera’s kindergarten program—laughing, learning, and beginning their educational journey with hope. Because of generous sponsors like you, 56 of these children already have someone standing behind them.

But 12 little ones are still waiting.
Twelve children who simply need someone to say, “I believe in your future.”

Would you prayerfully consider sponsoring one of the last 12?

Your sponsorship does far more than provide school—it gives a child stability, nourishment, encouragement, and the opportunity to grow in a Christ-centered environment. It is a simple step that can change the trajectory of a child’s life.

Only 12 remain.
Perhaps one of them is waiting for you.

Prayers

  • We are deeply grateful to partner with you not only through generosity, but through prayer. Please join us in lifting up the Adera community:
Pray that Adera students finish the school year strong, continuing to grow in knowledge, confidence, and character.
  • Pray for peace and stability in Ethiopia as the nation approaches the June 1 election.
  • Pray for economic provision and security for Adera families, that opportunities continue to grow and sustain them.
  • Pray that the Gospel continues to flow through every Adera program, touching hearts and transforming lives.
  • Pray for the Adera Board meeting on March 30, asking the Lord to provide wisdom, unity, and clear direction for Adera’s future.

Thank you for standing with Adera in prayer as we trust the Lord to guide every step and continue transforming lives in Ethiopia.

Stack them up and make it count!
