The March 2025 Short Term Mission team is in-country and on the move! After a few days of travel and transition, we are ready to hit the ground running here in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia!
On Sunday morning, we had the privilege of attending the International Evangelical Church of Addis Ababa, where we listened to a wonderful sermon on Matthew 5 and worshiped with believers all over the world. It was a beautiful reminder of the wide-reaching power of Christ’s love. No matter the geography, language, or culture, His Word is living and active!
Later, we kicked things off with Hiber Sports Day. Our team led about 180 students from schools across the neighborhood through three fun-filled games: pool noodle field hockey, partner kick ball, and balloon battling.

It was an afternoon full of sweat, laughter, and screeching cheers. Although the games didn’t always go as planned and rule-violations were pervasive, the team was able to bond and build relationships with kids in such a sweet way. Eventually the games came to an end, but the fun did not! We continued to build relationships with our new friends by serving each and every one of them dinner at Adera’s Feeding Program barn.
After all, the best way to connect with anyone is to invite them to the table! As always, we were struck by the generous spirits and kind hearts of the students we serve. Although that food may very well have been their only meal of the day, they were eager to share with their new American friends. By the end of the day, the students left with full bellies and fuller hearts, and we can’t wait to continue seeing them throughout the week.
On Monday, the team got a glimpse of the many facets of Adera’s programs. We stepped into the lives of sponsored children at both the Adera daycare and the Charisma Kindergarten before serving in the Feeding Program at Hiber. Later on, we interviewed a round of Adera moms. Their stories are a beautiful picture of what it looks like to depend completely on God and cling to His goodness during times of trouble.
The team will continue to work in these programs throughout the week, where we are excited to grow the relationships, we have already been planting. What a joy it is to see the Lord at work in Ethiopia! We can’t wait to see what He reveals as the week goes on and to adopt His servant heart as we humbly serve the people around us. – Eliza Peacock is traveling for the fourth time to experience God’s heart for the families of
